Wilderness & Remote First Aid

This intensive two-day course is designed for outdoor enthusiasts, guides, search & rescue volunteers, backcountry workers, and community members who may find themselves far from immediate medical assistance. Students will learn to assess, stabilize, and manage injuries and illnesses in wilderness and remote settings, make evacuation decisions, and provide extended care when help is delayed.

What You’ll Learn (Topics Include):

• Wilderness risk assessment & trip planning

• Primary & secondary patient assessment techniques

• Airway, breathing, circulation, shock management

• Head, neck, spinal injury care & immobilization

• Musculoskeletal injuries, splinting & stabilization

• Wound care, burns, bites & stings

• Medical emergencies: cardiac, stroke, allergies, poisoning

• Environmental illness: hypothermia, heat-related, altitude effects

• Extended patient care and monitoring

• Evacuation, rescue decision-making & communications

• Realistic scenario practice and skills drills

Schedule / Format:

• Day 1 (8:30 am – 5:00 pm)

• Day 2 (8:30 am – 5:00 pm)

• Includes indoor instruction, outdoor scenario training, hands-on practice

• Written and practical evaluation / certification

What to Bring / What’s Included:

• Bring clothing suitable for outdoor work (layers, waterproof outerwear, boots)

• Notebook, pen, water, lunch, snacks

• We provide training materials, first aid props, manuals and certificate

• You will receive a Certificate of Completion

• Validity: certificate is valid for 3 years; refresher recommended

Registration / Cancellation:

• Minimum 8 students needed; courses may be postponed / rescheduled if minimum not met

• A non-refundable deposit (25%) 
  

• Cancellation policy: more than 14 days — full refund (minus deposit); 7–14 days — 50% refund (minus deposit; <7 days — no refund (or credit toward future course)

• We reserve the right to cancel for weather, instructor availability, etc., in which case participants will be refunded or offered alternate date
